Junior Programs

(For girls born in 2012, 2013 OR 2014)

KWGBA has partnered with the NBA and will again be bringing the Jr. NBA program to the Kitchener / Waterloo area for girls ages 5 to 7. This program is targeted toward girls who have the eagerness to learn and achieve the fundamental aspects of basketball. Generally, participants are being introduced to basketball for the first time.

The fee for this program is $75.00 for each session (12 nights).  Each participant will receive a JR NBA t-shirt and a size appropriate basketball.

Fall 2019

The fall program will run every Tuesday from October 1st until December 17th at Centennial Public School 141 Amos Avenue  Waterloo  N2L 2W8  We plan to offer two separate sessions: one from 6:30 pm to 7:25 pm and the second from 7:30 pm to 8:25 pm, provided registration warrants both sessions.

*Space is limited to 20 girls per session. With all the Toronto Raptor excitement this year we expect both sessions to fill up quickly.

Please note that due to the number of girls expected in each session and the frequent need for bathroom and water breaks, we kindly request that a parent remain at the gym for the hour.

Please complete the registration form linked below and hit submit to register. You will receive an email confirmation upon submission. Please then send an e-transfer for the $75.00 registration fee to kelly.schott@rogers.com (preferred payment method – no password required) or mail a cheque payable to “KW Girls Basketball Association” to 465B Harbour View Crescent  Waterloo, ON  N2K 4A3.  Note that your spot is not confirmed until payment is received.

Winter 2020

There will be a winter session also beginning in the new year.  It will take place at Empire Public School  83 Empire Street  Waterloo  N2L 2M1  Registration for that session will begin in October / November.

If you have any questions concerning this program, please email info@kwgba.ca.

(For girls born in 2010 & 2011)

Final decisions are underway regarding our novice program. We will have something similar to a tryout for any girls born in 2010 & 2011 who are interested in learning and playing basketball. Much will depend on how many girls show up at the September tryouts and their skill level. The top 12 or 13 players will make up a true Novice (U10) rep team who we expect will play in the OBL (details at https://basketball.on.ca/competitions/obl/about/) and in an additional tournament or two, concluding with the Ontario Cup (taking place March 6 to 8, 2020 in Guelph.)

Should there be enough girls remaining we will consider forming either a) a second novice team, who will similarly play in the OBL, some tournaments and Ontario Cup or b) a pre-novice team who will spend most of the season working on their skills and will play a few organized games and possibly enter a tournament near to the end of the season.

We expect that both groups will practice together twice a week (expected to be Thursday evening and Saturday morning) although this won’t be finalized until the fall.

Full details will be provided at September tryouts beginning Saturday, September 14th.

Please watch our website for tryout dates and times.
